Scientists are testing a new drug against fatal infections

A new drug can be a powerful weapon in the war against antibiotic resistance. The antibiotic was found hiding in the ground in a grassy field in Maine, USA.

The drug has also worked well against difficult to treat mistakes that damage the heart.

However, scientist Mark Enright, leading microbiologist and an independent consultant, warned that there are still many important diseases that a new drug does not solve. This includes diseases caused by E coli and Klebsiella, errors, which is now not easy to treat.

Probably 4 or 5 years ago, we spent $3-4 thousand dealing with a MRSA infection in one of our dogs, including a couple of surgeries. The vet's explanation of where they were finding it in hospitals was really scary. Doctor's ties, sleeve cuffs on their smocks, etc.

It's great but won't it become like regular antibiotic? Where the illnesses they are trying to stop will become more powerful than we could ever imagine? Let's use these carefully!

We need to control their usage. Cretins who refuse to complete their courses because they "feel better", and who seem to think they're a symptomatic relief need to be held to account - bar them from repeat prescriptions or further treatment unless they hand in their empty prescription jar on the designated day.
