All this talk of Mars when we really know comparatively little about our own moon. A moon base was always considered the most logical first step in man's exploration of the universe but we bypassing it. Why? Sometimes I wonder if there really was something in that throw away remark by Neil Armstrong to the effect that the moon was already occupied.
