The researchers found that bowhead whales have unique mutations in a gene called, which is involved in the repair of damaged DNA. Mutations in this gene can provide protection against cancer.

Scientists have noted that he hopes eventually to extend human life by studying the genetic code of the long-lived non-human mammals, such as bowhead whale and disease-resistant naked mole rat.

I could solve this aging thing if the money were available. So who do you talk to that would not think you were nuts to imagine such a thing? Might take two or three years, but no longer.

It will be interesting to see how the mice express the lower metabolic rate... maybe we will one day live in fear of the race of super mice that are able to thermoregulate to inhabit the arctic and live off of penguin butts and polar bear guts

Amazing found, further analysis of genomes from different kind of species will bring us way further in understanding life on earth and may even provide dying to cancer one day. Guess u have to consider as well that lots of ppl die cuz they are unable to move because their bones suffer from gravity. Whales havent got this problem. Also food plays a huge role to your lifespan and I guess whales havent got bad habits or threats like humans have for food that should not be called food.
