Tesla’s home battery research could lead to personal superchargers

Tesla announced its Q4 2014 earnings yesterday, with mixed news on sales (the company shipped 33,000 Model S’s in 2014, below its 35,000 target). One thing that Tesla CEO Elon Musk highlighted, however, was that Tesla is moving forward with its plans to bring consumer battery packs to market for home use.

Humnnn. So we understand the meaninglessness of the mention of Toyota's plan, A "typical" Japanese home uses less than 1/2 what a typical US home does. Mostly because the typical Japanese home is only 40% of the size of a typical US home.
Now how useful is the Tesla Model s Battery for use in a US Home that uses over 1,000 kWhs a month? 24 hr X 30 days = 720 hr. 85 kWh/1000kWh = .085. .085 X 720 = 61.2hrs or about 2.5 days. So, maybe 1/4 of the expected time of a power outage for a hurricane.

If they made batteries more hot-swappable in these vehicles, couldn't you just carry a spare in the trunk, in a little spot next to the spare tire?
